Character: Chiaki Nanami
Canon: Super Dangan Ronpa 2: Goodbye Despair - Epilogue
Age: Physically 17, though as an AI she has only existed for a couple of years.

Background Information: boop! For clarity's sake, I am playing Chiaki from SDR2 under the impression that she received impressions of memories and relationships when she manifested into the Neo World Program based off of Class 77's perception of her, so she may have some very vague idea of the person she was created from.

Personality:
  • Sleepy: Upon first meeting Chiaki, it becomes immediately apparent that she is very...sleepy. She is always yawning and losing herself in thought, thinking about her next nap or the next game she'd like to play. Even when stakes are high and matters are serious, Chiaki remains calm and collected, carrying a soothing energy that balances out the panic around her. As her real-life counterpart didn't seem to share her constant sleepiness, this seems to be a trait all the AI's own, which begs the question whether it was intentional or if she is simply overworked with all she is asked to do. Either way, Chiaki doesn't let her tiredness get in the way of doing important things, even if she may sometimes doze off mid-conversation or sleep in late. She's just a girl who loves a good rest and doesn't get enough of it - or, perhaps, gets too much.

  • Friendly: Despite not being the most social person, Chiaki is nonetheless friendly and caring towards the people around her. She tries to do her best for the other students, even the ones she doesn't know as well, and even though she is only an artificial program to made to observe the subjects in the Neo World Program. As a reflection of her real-world counterpart, Chiaki takes on more of a leadership role among her friends than she intends to, simply because she goes out of her way to care for them and doesn't want to let them down. She is often commenting on being worried about the state of the other students, and is even willing to sacrifice herself to ensure the survival and safety of the other students, even when it means the end of her own existence. There is no sacrifice she wouldn't make for them, even breaking the rules of her own programming to do so in the final chapter.

  • Focused: While Chiaki is always sleepy, she nonetheless has a laser focus when she applies it. When playing video games, Chiaki cannot be distracted until she has finished what she is doing, even if that means leaving someone hanging for several minutes. While conducting investigations, she is also similarly focused, often not responding to questions until she has formulated a thought. As such, details don't go missed by her, and she is intelligent and analytical. In trials, along with Komaeda, Chiaki is the one most likely to bring up evidence and contradictions that change the course of the proceedings, making her observations pivotal to finding the true culprits in every case. Simply put, the killing game would have ended in the first round if not for Chiaki's intervention and sharp attention to detail.

  • Loyal: Chiaki is loyal to a fault, primarily to the Future Foundation, and then to her friends, which creates quite the conflict for her when they begin to believe Future Foundation has planted a traitor in their midst. Due to her programming, Chiaki can't tell anyone the truth of her nature, and she can't betray what she was set out to do. This makes the last murder case especially painful for her, as she wants to tell her friends the truth, but she must wait for them to deduce it on their own. Even when they do discover she is the would-be traitor, Chiaki does not hold it against them, even as they condemn her to death. Chiaki sees it as the only way to be loyal both to them and the Future Foundation. She didn't betray her creator and the purpose he made her for, but she also got to save her loved ones. This allows her peace in her final moments, as she knows she did the best she could to help the other students realize their goal of surviving to see a better tomorrow.

  • Hopeful: Going hand-in-hand with her loyalty, Chiaki is deeply hopeful; as she should be, when she was created by the Future Foundation, a group meant to pull the world out of the mire of despair. Even when murders begin occurring and things look bleak, Chiaki never loses faith in her fellow students and reminds everyone to keep doing their best. She believes in them, no matter what, no matter how many deaths take place. The hope inside her will not be quashed, even if it is a quiet, calming kind of hope. Even in the end, she believes in her friends, trusting that after she is gone, they will know what to do, and how to move forward. In particularly, she encourages Hajime to seek out his future when he is at his lowest point, giving him the motivation to move forward once more. Her belief carries the people around her, and keeps them on their feet.

  • Knowledge Gaps: Being an AI, Chiaki was only programmed with the knowledge that she needs, meaning that anything that wasn't required for her to know to pose as a high school student, she doesn't know. She retains her real-life counterpart's skill with games, but she doesn't know about things like common Japanese holidays, and she has rudimentary writing skills. This means there are times she asks questions about things that should be obvious, leading to some awkward situations. Still, her knowledge is more or less well-rounded, and she isn't childlike, merely uninformed about some things. She's a quick learner, able to absorb what she does pick up from conversations with others.

  • Abilities & Inventory: Though she will be an AI taking on a real flesh and blood form for the first time, Chiaki has no special abilities to speak of. She is the Super High-School Level Gamer, which means she is very, very good at games, but aside from that, she has no real powers.

Her inventory will consist of her clothes, a student file, Monomi's journal, and some hope fragments.

Suitability & Plans: Chiaki was an AI created for a specific purpose, and persisting beyond the fulfillment of that purpose will be a brand new experience for her. She'll be able to make her own choices for the first time and grow to understand her own emotions better. Songerein will also give her the opportunity to reflect on what she went through in canon, and make new friends to go along with her past ones. It's a chance for her to live her own life and given the nature of the game is to explore emotions and memories, it seems a fitting place for her.
